Mold & Die Making
Every mold and die we run was built in this building. The tool shop cuts
injection molds for plastic parts, progressive and compound dies for sheet
metal, and the jigs and fixtures used to inspect both. When a dimension drifts
or a form needs changing, the conversation happens at one table instead of
between two suppliers.
What We Build
Three types of tooling come out of the same shop:
- Injection molds for plastic parts-from single-cavity prototype tools to
multi-cavity production tools, in ABS, PC, PC/ABS, PA, POM, PP, PE and PMMA - Stamping dies for sheet metal — progressive and compound dies for 0.2–6.0 mm
sheet on 25T to 400T presses - Jigs, fixtures and gauges — built alongside the tool, so inspection measures
the same datum the die was cut to
DFM Before Steel Is Cut
Send a 3D model and you get a DFM report and a quotation within 24 hours. The
report covers what we would change before cutting steel: wall thickness, draft
angle, gate position, undercuts, parting line, tolerance stack and how the part
will be ejected. Catching these on screen costs nothing. Catching them after the
tool is cut costs weeks.

Lead Times
Tooling schedules are quoted from the moment the design is frozen, not from the
moment we start cutting.
- DFM report and quotation — within 24 hours of receiving your 3D file
- Mold build — 25–30 days
- First article samples and first production batch — about 14 days after
tool approval
The Tool Shop
More than 20 new molds a month leave this shop, and every one of them is
designed, machined, assembled, spotted and trialled in-house. The same team
handles repair, maintenance and engineering changes on tools that are already
running, so a cracked insert or a drifted hole does not wait for an outside
vendor’s schedule.
- 20+ new molds per month, all in-house
- Mold design, machining, assembly and trial in one shop
- Repair, maintenance and engineering changes on running tools
- Jigs and fixtures made to match the tool
- Tool-room equipment: Full set of CNC and electrical discharge machining equipmentt for mold fabrication
Where It Started
LXL was founded in Shenzhen in 1997 building molds and molding furniture
components for one of the largest home and office furniture manufacturers in
Taiwan, China. Cosmetic surfaces and repeatable tolerances were the entry
requirement, not an upgrade. The same standard moved with us into appliances,
consumer electronics, auto parts and industrial components, and it gets tested
on our own brand, Garage Smart, which sells motorized garage storage to 70,000+
customers in the US.
One Building, One Standard
Tooling and presses sit under the same roof. When a part shows short shots,
flash or dimensional drift on the first trial, the toolmaker and the molder are
looking at the same sample within minutes. That is the difference between a fix
that takes a day and one that takes a round trip.
Quality and Documentation
ISO 9001 certified. Each tool trial comes with first article inspection reports
and a dimensional report measured against your drawing, so your incoming
inspection has a document to check against.
– ISO 9001 certified
– First article inspection reports from each trial
– Dimensional reports against the customer drawing
– Mold steel certificates: Available upon request for every tool
Start Your Tooling RFQ
Send a STEP, IGES or X_T file, plus the 2D drawing if you have one. Tell us the
material, the expected annual volume and the date you need parts. Within 24
hours you get a DFM report and a tooling quotation, and you will know whether we
think the part should be molded or stamped before you spend anything on steel.
