Overview
A large irregular panel is a molded panel whose outline is cut to the opening it closes, so the edge departs from a plain rectangle. This one has a broad face, a tapering lower edge with a semicircular notch cut into it, a raised rim all round, and a ribbed back. The ribs run straight down the panel, or a diagonal pattern braces it corner to corner, and bosses with star tops stand on the rib lines.
The ribs carry the load of a large irregular panel. They run from the rim across the back at an even height, so the panel holds its shape over a span, and the face stays flat between them.
