Overview
A U-shaped bracket receives a mating part in an open channel and carries an eye boss at the other end for a pin or a bolt. The channel is formed by two parallel walls with an open end, so the mating part slides in from the side, and the two small holes through the wall take a pin that locks it in place.
The eye boss is a thick ring with a bore through it, and a base rail runs along the bottom edge to give the bracket a flat face where it seats.
Because a U-shaped bracket is molded, the channel, the eye boss and the base rail are formed in one cycle, so the walls stay parallel and the eye bore sits square to the channel on every part.
Our plastic frame connector bolts down through its mounting holes to join two frames, while this U-shaped bracket carries an open channel that a mating part slides into. Our L-shaped corner bracket turns a joint through a right angle, and our custom flange socket base holds a square tube in a closed bore rather than an open channel.
Key Features & Benefits
– Open channel — a mating part slides in
– Eye boss — bore for a pin or a bolt
– Base rail — flat edge seats on the frame
– Pin holes — two small holes through the wall
– One-piece body — channel, eye and rail together
Customization Options
Channel width, channel depth, wall thickness, eye boss diameter, eye bore, base rail width and hole size are all set by your 3D file. We mold the part in PA6, glass filled nylon and ABS in any colour, and the same range covers a plain channel piece and a small ring piece where the assembly calls for them. A revised U-shaped bracket usually needs only a tool insert change, so a new channel width keeps the same eye boss.
Quality & Delivery
Each U-shaped bracket is checked for channel width, channel depth, wall thickness and eye bore, and the two holes are gauged for position before the run continues. First articles are sent for approval, so a U-shaped bracket arrives ready to fit. Send your 3D file through our quotation page and we will confirm material, colour and lead time.
Related Capabilities
A U-shaped bracket is molded in the same shop as our plastic frame connector, which joins two frames through bolted holes, and our L-shaped corner bracket, which turns a joint through a right angle. Where a square tube has to be held upright instead, our custom flange socket base carries a closed bore. All of them are produced in house under our injection molding service.
