Overview

A utility knife housing is the molded body that carries a utility blade. It is molded as one sleeve: a long body with a capped head, a full length slot down one side, and small pips standing out of the wall. The blade sits in the slot and the capped end closes the sleeve.

The slot is the working face of a utility knife housing. It is molded straight along the body with a rounded end at the nose, so the blade runs in line and its edge stands clear of the wall.

It sits beside the tool parts we mold. Our D handle tool housing takes a grip, the operating handle carries a long grip, and the plastic scraper is a hand tool molded in one piece.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Sleeve: a slim body molded in one piece
  • Slot: a long opening that carries the blade
  • Head: a flange that closes the top end
  • Pips: small bosses on the wall that seat the sleeve
  • Nose: a rounded end that guards the blade tip

Because a utility knife housing is molded to your 3D file, the slot, the head and the pips repeat cavity to cavity, so every sleeve in a run takes the same blade and seats the same way.

Customization Options

Length, slot width, wall, head outline, resin and color all come from your 3D file, so a utility knife housing is molded for the blade and the handle you have.

  • Body: length, section and corner radius
  • Slot: width, length and position
  • Head: outline and thickness
  • Pips: size and position on the wall
  • Color: a black grade, a shade you match or a two tone split
  • Finish: a matte face or the sheen your 3D file calls for

Quality & Delivery

Tooling for a utility knife housing is cut in our own mold shop, and the first article is gauged against your 3D file, slot to head and wall thickness included, before the run is released.

Mold faces are finished to the sheen your 3D file calls for, the gate is trimmed flush on the back, and the slot comes off the mold straight so the blade runs without a catch. Lead time is quoted with the unit price and held to the date, and each batch is gauged before packing.

We mold every utility knife housing to your 3D file, so the slot, the head and the pips follow the model. Send the 3D file for a quotation with the tool cost and the unit price.
