Overview
A metal stem caster mounts a round wheel to the base of a cabinet, a workbench or an instrument case on a threaded stem, so no plate and no drilling pattern is needed. A hex nut and a washer clamp the stem against the frame, and the swivel body turns freely under the load, so the equipment can be pushed in any direction.
The brake lever at the side locks the wheel once the unit is in position. A polished metal shroud covers the top of the wheel and the axle area, and the black wheel rolls smoothly on a hard floor.
Because the caster is supplied as one assembly, the stem, the wheel and the shroud arrive matched to each other, and the same body can be combined with a mounting plate where a frame has a flat base instead of a stem hole. Our plastic roller hub is a molded wheel body on its own, while a metal stem caster is a complete unit ready to thread or bolt onto equipment.
Key Features & Benefits
– Threaded stem — mounts through a frame or a base
– Round wheel — rolls smoothly on a hard floor
– Brake lever — locks the wheel once in place
– Swivel body — turns freely under the load
– Metal shroud — covers the wheel and the axle
Customization Options
Stem diameter, thread pitch, stem length, wheel diameter, wheel width and wheel colour are all set by your 3D file. We supply the wheel body molded in PA6, POM or ABS and the stem in steel or stainless steel, as swivel or fixed, with or without a brake, and with a mounting plate in place of the stem where the frame calls for one. A revised metal stem caster is quoted as a repeat part, so a new wheel diameter keeps the same stem.
Quality & Delivery
Each metal stem caster is checked for stem diameter, thread pitch, wheel diameter and wheel width, and the brake is worked through a full lock and release cycle during inspection. First articles are sent for approval before the run continues, so a metal stem caster arrives ready to fit. Send your 3D file through our quotation page and we will confirm wheel, stem and lead time.
Related Capabilities
A metal stem caster sits alongside our machined metal housing and our custom machined structural parts, which cover the machined side of the same equipment. Where only the wheel body is needed, see our plastic roller hub. The wheel body is molded in house under our injection molding service.
