Overview

An optical sensor housing is the molded body that holds a sensor element and its optics. It is molded in one piece: a clear window sits in the top face over the sensor, a round lens port opens in the front, and the base is flanged for mounting. Ribs inside the shell keep the seat and the port on one center line.

The port is molded with a ring seat for the lens, and the window seat is a flat step in the top face, so a clear cover drops in and closes the opening.

It sits with the other parts we mold for sensing and lighting. Our red plastic sensor housing carries a lens port and a usb opening, the led light housing shapes a light body, the heatsink module housing vents a module, and the modular mounting frame holds a lens carrier. This optical sensor housing pairs a clear window with a lens port.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Clear window: a molded seat in the top face for the window
  • Lens port: a round opening with a ring seat in the front
  • Flanged base: a flat mounting face with fastener points

Because an optical sensor housing is molded to your 3D file, the window seat, the port and the flange repeat cavity to cavity, so every body in a run mounts the same way.

Customization Options

Outline, window size, port diameter, base flange, resin and color all come from your 3D file, so an optical sensor housing is molded for the board you fit.

  • Window: opening size and seat depth from your model
  • Port: diameter and ring seat from your model
  • Base: flange outline and fastener points from your model
  • Color: a black grade, a shade you match or a two tone split
  • Finish: the sheen your 3D file calls for

Quality & Delivery

Tooling for an optical sensor housing is cut in our own mold shop, and the first article of every body is gauged against your 3D file, window seat and port ring included, before release.

Mold faces are finished to the sheen your 3D file calls for, the gate is trimmed flush on the base, and the window seat comes off the mold flat so a clear cover sits on the step. Lead time is quoted with the unit price and held to the date, and each batch is gauged before packing.

We mold every optical sensor housing to your 3D file, so the seat, the port and the flange follow the model. Send the 3D file for a quotation with the tool cost and the unit price.

Related Capabilities

Optics and lighting bodies sit beside an optical sensor housing. Our dome camera housing with a clear window band bands a window around a dome, the transparent plastic cover closes over a face, and the cover clip holds a part down.

Tooling and molding both run in house, on our mold making floor and our injection molding service presses. Send your 3D file for a quotation.
