Overview
A plastic cover plate is a flat molded panel that closes an opening in a device. It is molded as one part: a rounded plate with a wide bore through it and a raised collar standing proud of the face around that bore. Two tabs stand at the edges and a notch is cut in the lower edge, so the plate sets in a recess.
The collar is the working face of a plastic cover plate. It is molded round and square to the bore, so a ring or a bezel sits on it without a step, and the bore holds the center line of the opening behind it.
It sits with the other covers we mold. Our transparent plastic cover shows what is behind it, the snap fit cover holds on a lip, and the oval end cap closes a profile with a center bore.
Key Features & Benefits
- Bore: a wide round opening molded on the center line
- Collar: a ring standing proud of the face
- Tabs: molded hooks that hold the plate in a recess
- Notch: a cut in the edge that sets the plate one way
- Back rim: a molded rim that keeps the panel flat
Because a plastic cover plate is molded to your 3D file, the bore, the collar and the tabs repeat cavity to cavity, so every plate in a run seats in the same recess.
Customization Options
Outline, bore size, collar height, tab layout, resin and color all come from your 3D file, so a plastic cover plate is molded for the opening you have.

- Tabs: size and position on the edges
- Color: a black grade, a shade you match or a two tone split
- Finish: a matte face or the sheen your 3D file calls for
Quality & Delivery
Tooling for a plastic cover plate is cut in our own mold shop, and the first article of every plate is gauged against your 3D file, bore to tab and collar height included, before the run is released.
Mold faces are finished to the sheen your 3D file calls for, the gate is trimmed flush on the back, and the collar comes off the mold round so a ring seats on it. Lead time is quoted with the unit price and held to the date, and each batch is gauged before packing.
We mold every plastic cover plate to your 3D file, so the bore, the tabs and the notch follow the model. Send the 3D file for a quotation with the tool cost and the unit price.
