Overview

An extrusion locating block is a molded block that drops onto the T-slot of an aluminum profile and holds a plate in place. It is molded as one part: a rectangular body with a long window through the middle, a counterbored hole at each end, and a shallow pocket around the window where the plate beds down. Short ribs on the flanks take up the slack.

The window is the working face of an extrusion locating block. A steel plate sits in the pocket across that opening, set between the two screws, so the plate comes flush with the top face and the block stays square to the rail.

It sits beside the guide parts we mold. Our nylon slide block carries a travel slot, the spacer block with a top channel sets a gap between rails, and the orange mounting block takes a boss.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Window: a long opening molded through the body
  • Pocket: a recess around the window that beds a plate flat
  • End holes: a counterbore at each end for the screw head
  • Ribs: short fins on the flanks that center the block in the slot
  • Base: a flat face that seats on the rail

Because an extrusion locating block is molded to your 3D file, the window, the pocket and the hole spacing repeat cavity to cavity, so every block in a run takes the same plate and drops into the same slot.

Customization Options

Length, window size, pocket depth, hole spacing, resin and color all come from your 3D file, so an extrusion locating block is molded for the rail and the plate you have.

  • Body: length, width and corner radius
  • Window: size and position in the face
  • Pocket: depth and rim width for the plate
  • Holes: spacing and counterbore from your model
  • Color: a natural grade, a black grade or a shade you match
  • Finish: a matte face or the sheen your 3D file calls for

Quality & Delivery

Tooling for an extrusion locating block is cut in our own mold shop, and the first article is gauged against your 3D file, window to hole and pocket depth included, before the run is released.

Mold faces are finished to the sheen your 3D file calls for, the gate is trimmed flush on the base, and the pocket comes off the mold flat so a plate beds down without a rock. Lead time is quoted with the unit price and held to the date, and each batch is gauged before packing.

We mold every extrusion locating block to your 3D file, so the window, the pocket and the hole spacing follow the model. Send the 3D file for a quotation with the tool cost and the unit price.
