Overview

A chrome plated knob is a molded knob with a bright finish over the outside. The body is molded in ABS and the plate is laid on after molding, so the part reads as polished metal over a molded blank. Two grooves run around the body and break the surface into bands, and a stepped bore runs through the center where the shaft enters.

Our plastic control knob is molded with a knurled grip and our large knurled knob as a reinforced grip, while a chrome plated knob carries a bright finish over the same molded body. The plated furniture leg is finished the same way on a larger part.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Plated finish — a chrome plate over the molded ABS body
  • Grooves — two bands run around the body at one depth
  • Bore — stepped through the center for the shaft
  • Face — flat, with the bore set on the axis
  • One piece — the body, the grooves and the bore come off one mold

Because a chrome plated knob is molded to your 3D file, the groove, the bore and the face repeat cavity to cavity.

Customization Options

Diameter, height, groove position, bore size, finish and color all come from your 3D file, so a chrome plated knob is molded for the shaft and the panel you fit it to.

  • Body — diameter, height and groove position set to your 3D file
  • Bore — size and step taken from your shaft
  • Face — flat, crowned or with a mark from your artwork
  • Finish — a bright chrome plate or the sheen you name
  • Color — the molded shade under a clear plate, or a molded color of its own

Quality & Delivery

Tooling for a chrome plated knob is cut in our own shop, and the first article of every knob is gauged against your 3D file — diameter, groove, bore and face — before the run is released.

Mold faces are finished to the sheen your 3D file calls for, the gate is trimmed flush with the wall, and the grooves come off the mold at one depth. The plate goes on after molding and the face and the grooves are checked before packing. Lead time is quoted with the unit price and held to the date.

We mold each chrome plated knob to your 3D file, so the body, the grooves and the bore follow the model. Send the 3D file and we return a quotation with the tool cost and the unit price.
